Indian Grahak, the Kolkata based online supermarket, has acquired online hyper-local marketplace Dyscover in a cash and stock deal, reports NextBigWhat. It is unclear if Dyscover’s entire team is moving to Indian Grahak.
Indian Grahak was founded by Sumana Mukherjee and Somjeet Mukherjee in August 2014 and is operational in Jamshedpur and Kolkata. It is an e-commerce platform that enables grocery retail stores and supermarkets to reach out to their customers and build an online presence. At present, it provides products in groceries, household supplies, personal care, baby care, health care and stationery and claims to see a growth rate of 40% per month.
Dyscover operated in Jamshedpur and had a team size of 22. The company provided groceries, electronics, personal care and books at a supposed lower-than-market price. It provided users with information on deals and offers from retailers in the city with the option of home delivery by placing orders through the website. It also offered free delivery on orders above Rs 300, while orders below that were charged Rs 30 for delivery. The company worked as an e-commerce store as well as search engine
Founded in July, 2015 by NIT Jamshedpur undergrads Nikhil Raj, Sharique Samsudheen and Rohit Vineet, Dyscover is an online platform which ensures the availability of all products and free delivery within hours. The startup serves in the grocery, personal care, mobile accessories and books and stationery categories.
Currently, the startup processes around 70-80 orders a day during the weekends and around 40-50 orders on weekdays with the average ticket size being INR 1200+. The platform, currently, has over 1100 registered customers since its inception.

The hyperlocal ecosystem in East India is comparatively weaker than the rest of the country and growth is slow. The acquisition will help India Grahak further strengthen its presence and offer a more efficient service to its consumers in East India.
